Monday, July 20-A Look Ahead To This Weekend In OC

OCEAN CITY – Local residents and visitors are invited this weekend to the 20th Annual Greek Festival, sponsored by the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City.

Beginning today through Sunday, the Roland E. Powell Convention Center will be transformed into a Greek paradise, featuring delicious Greek food and pastries, imports, gifts, arts and crafts, live folk dancing performances by the Hellenic Dancers of New Jersey and live music by Apollina beginning at 5 p.m. daily.

Although the live dancing is a treat, the highlight of the festival would have to be the food, particularly the Greek desserts and pastries homemade by members of the local church. All items may be packaged to go.

Hours for the weekend celebration are Friday and Saturday, noon-11 p.m., and Sunday, noon-9 p.m.

Admission from noon-5 p.m. is $2 and after 5 p.m. is $3. Children under 13 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free at all times.

Starting a week from today, July 27, through Wednesday, July 29, the 15th Annual Jesus at the Beach Music and Ministry Festival will be held, beginning each day at 10 a.m. at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center with praise, worship, dance, drama, testimony, preaching, prayer and ministry.

Organizers plan free afternoons so participants can enjoy fellowship together. Each night from 7-10 p.m. on the beach at N. Division Street, praise, music, dance, drama, testimony and one-on-one sharing will be held.

One of the week’s highlights is a baptism service in the ocean near the convention center planned for Wednesday, following the meeting at approximately 1 p.m.

There is no charge to participate in any of the ministry events.
