BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity soccer team got off the snide a little this week, beating Wicomico, 3-0, on Monday to end a three-game losing streak.

The Seahawks ended a rough patch on the schedule on Monday, blanking the Indians, 3-0, with timely offensive bursts and stingy defense throughout the contest. Alycia Skarzinski led Decatur with two goals, while Lauren Cosgriff added a third. The win ended a three-game skid for the Seahawks against tough Bayside Conference opponents.

During the stretch, the Seahawks fell to Parkside, 2-0; Benett, 3-1; and Parkside again, 3-1. Taylor Blazer scored the lone goal for the Seahawks in the second loss to Parkside. Prior to the win over Wicomico on Monday, the Seahawks’ last win came against Mardela, 4-2, back on September 28.

Decatur’s record now stands at 4-5 on the season. The Seahawks were supposed to play Bennett yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition. They will wrap the regular season with a game against Kent Island on the road next Wednesday.
