Linda Lee Hickman
BERLIN- Linda Lee Hickman, 62, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Spare and Helen Griffin Spare. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Hickman Johnson and her husband Brian of Bishopville and two grand dogs Lacey and Lily.
Linda was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School Class of 1965. She was a Medicine Aide at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and had been employed there for 29 years. She was a member of St. Martins United Methodist Church near Berlin.
A funeral service was held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Rev. Dean Perdue officiated. Interment followed in EvergreenCemetery in Berlin. Donations may be made to St. Martin’s United Methodist Church, C/O Patti Warren, 9202 Carey Rd., Berlin, Md. 21811.
Faye L. Webb
OCEAN CITY- Faye L. Webb, 84, of Ocean City, passed away on Sunday morning, October 18, 2009, at home with her family at her side.
Born September 4, 1925, in Holden, West Virginia, Faye was a daughter of the late Oscar and Georgia Stapleton. She attended area schools in Logan, West Virginia, graduating high school. On October 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to Aaron E. Webb, who survives. They were happliy married for 60 years.
Faye was a happy homemaker who loved to garden, do crafts and travel. She also loved children, animals, and flowers. Everyone who knew her will remember her marvelous sense of humor. Faye will be greatly missed by her loving husband and family.
Those Faye leaves behind to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Aaron; especially close niece Anna and husband Greg Popowski of Annapolis, MD; especially close niece Melissa Rossetti-Laughter and son Nicholas Rossetti of Annapolis, MD; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Hattie (Russell) Hylton, and four brothers, Arlie Stapleton, Ernest (Audrey) Stapleton, Chester (Anna) Stapleton, and Warren (Carol) Stapleton.
Prayer service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Burbage Funeral Home, 108 Williams Street, Berlin, Maryland. Father Richard Smith, Pastor of Saint Luke Parish, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland. A Graveside Service will take place at 1 p.m.

William H. Breedlove
BERLIN- William H. Breedlove, 82, of Berlin died October 18, 2009.
He was born September 29, 1927 in Charleston, Illinois to Harlan and Marie Ryan Breedlove. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1945 to 1947. Bill graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1952, and pursued graduate studies at George Washington University. He worked for the Department of Defense for 38 years, retiring in 1991.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9053, K of C Fourth Degree Assembly 2454, the Marine Corps League 1st State Detachment, the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-05, the Mardel Republican Social Club, the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, and a past member of the Worcester County Republican Central Committee.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne, his children Catherine
(Conrad) Link of Frederick MD, Suzanne (Robert) Lowe of Clearwater Fla., William (Yvonne) Breedlove of Laurel Md., Mary (Michael) Miller of Ashburn Va., Patricia (Michael) Masterson of Berlin Md., Daniel (Kylee) Breedlove of Ellicott City Md., and Barbara (David) Aughenbaugh of Catonsville Md., and son-in-law David Leatherman of Columbia Md. He was Poppy to 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Denise Leatherman in 2007.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Holy Savior Catholic Church, 17th St and Coastal Hwy. Interment was private. The family requests that memorial donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Diakonia, Inc., 12747 Old Bridge Rd, West Ocean City, Md., 21842 or Blind Industries and Services of Maryland 2240 Northwood Dr, Salisbury Md. 21801. Arrangements were handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
Evelyn Gertrude Caple
BERLIN- Evelyn Gertrude Caple, age 89, died on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Baltimore she was the daughter of the late Raymond Hyder and Evelyn Holmes Hyder. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Elmer Caple.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Sauter and her husband Gary of Bishopville; and two grandchildren, Walter Christian Sauter and his wife Stacy Ann of Annapolis and Aimee Elizabeth Delaney and her husband Kenneth of Baltimore.
Services and Interment are private. Arrangements are being held by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
Wilson Davis Warren
BERLIN- Wilson Davis Warren, 89, died on October 14 at the Berlin Nursing Home.
Born December 18, 1919 in Berlin, he was the son of the late Claude E. Warren and Ethel M. Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Onley in February 2007.
A graduate of Buckingham High School, Wilson was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army 5th Division-11th Infantry in Iceland, Germany and France. He worked many years for J.H. Williams Five and Dime and the Adkins Co.
Wilson was a member of the Buckingham Presbyterian Church. He was an ordained Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He was also president of the Buckingham Men’s Club and church treasurer. He was a member of the Berlin American Legion Post 123 for 66 years.
Wilson will be remembered for love and devotion to his family, his faith and service to church, allegiance and service to his country and loyalty to his friends.
He is survived by his children, James Richard Warren and his wife Alfreda of Richmond, Va., Dorothy “Dot” W. Simpson and her husband Gill, and Evelyn V. Warren, all of Berlin; five grandchildren including Heather Ann W. Segredo and her husband George Eduardo of Bowie, Md., Timothy Aaron Simpson and his wife Pam of Newark, Del., Alfreda W. Beach and her husband Christopher Edward, James Richard J.R. Warren, Jr., and William Charles Warren, all of Richmond, Va.; four great grandchildren, Gabriel Scott Simpson, Christopher Edward Beach, Jr., Lewis Tolliver Beach, and William Henry Beach; several nephews and a niece. Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his sister, Doris W. Bowden.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17, at the Buckingham Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Berlin. Dr. Kay Myers and Pastor Gail Mansell officiated. Interment was in the Buckingham Presbyterian Cemetery in Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Wilson D. Warren to the Buckingham Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 248, Berlin, Md. 21811. Arrangements were handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
Thomas E. Smith
DAGSBORO- Thomas E. Smith, 77, of Dagsboro, Delaware, formerly of Reisterstown, Md., and New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware.
Mr. Smith was born on July 14, 1932 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Thomas E. and Irene Skone Smith. Mr. Smith worked over 30 years at the great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in Baltimore, retiring as a production manager. He and Mrs. Smith moved to Dagsboro 15 years ago so they could enjoy going to the beach. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He was a beloved husband of 54 years to Carol Ann Smith, dear father of Steven of Crisfield, MD, Robert and Thomas of Dagsboro, Delaware.
A viewing and visitation was held on Sunday, October 18th at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware. The service was on Monday, October 19 at at the Watson Funeral Home. Interment with honors followed at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware.
Herman F. “Bill” Megee
MILLSBORO- Herman F. “Bill” Megee, 85, died at home with his loving wife by his side on October 17th, 2009 in Millsboro, Delaware.
Bill was born on August 30, 1924 in Jones Store, Spotsylvania, Virginia to the late Frank L. and Lulu E. Brooks Megee. Megee was a World War II Veteran having served his country in the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed and retired from Dupont Corporation, Sun Oil Company, and Townsends, Inc.
Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis B. Harmon-Megee, stepson Arthur S. and his wife Mary A.T. Morris of Dover, brother John and his wife Betty Jean Megee, sisters, Evelyn Forest and Winnefred Parkhill, numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and his beloved dog Bud. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Edith Ellingsworth and Myria Carmellis.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Harmony United Methodist Church, 27270 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior for Family Visitation. Rev. Claudia Waters will officiate. Burial will be private.
