Geoffrey H. Robbins, II

BERLIN – Geoffrey H. Robbins, II, 28, died Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Florida.

Born in Salisbury, he is the son of Dr. Geoffrey Robbins of Ocean City and Linda Chornyei Pohuski of Annapolis and step-mother Michelle Robbins and step-father Michael Pohuski. He is also survived by his sister, Jacqueline Robbins of Kona, Hawaii; step-sister, Megan McBride of Ocean City; and a step-brother, Andrew McBride of Washington DC. Also surviving is his paternal grandfather, George Feehley of Ocean City, and maternal grandfather, Frank Chornyei of Baltimore.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Sally Feehley, and maternal grandmother, Eve Chornyei, and paternal grandfather, Herman Robbins.

He is also survived by his aunt, Carol Robbins of Denver, Colo.; his uncle, Paul Chornyei of Baltimore; and godparents, Hale and Alberta Harrison, of Ocean City.

He attended Worcester Preparatory School in Berlin. He was a 1999 graduate of Fishburne Military School in Waynesburo, Va., and later received his first mates and maritime Captains license after graduating from the Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart, Fla. He proudly captained the 157-ton motor yacht, “GLORY”, traveling to ports from Florida to Maine. From a young boy, he enjoyed all things associated with the water.

Friends may call at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin from 4-7 p.m. on Friday. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church on 3rd Street and Baltimore Ave. in Ocean City.

Floyd M. Allmond

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Floyd Meade Allmond died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Walter Meade Allmond and Dorothy A. Ritter Allmond. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Nelda Jean Allmond.

He is also survived by two daughters, Kelly Lorraine Allmond of Parsonsburg and Dorothy “Arlene” Allmond of Titusville, Fla.; a son, John Meade Allmond of Newtown, Pa.; sisters “China”, Ruth and Ellen; and grandchildren, Ashley, Christin, Ryan, and Jonathan.

A retired Master Sergeant, he served in the US Air Force and Maryland Air National Guard for 35 years. He also worked as a real estate agent in Harford County for 20 years. He was a devoted member of the Community Church of Ocean Pines and a Mason of Lodge 229. He loved camping in his RV and golfing, but most of all, he loved his “Nel”.

Joan L. Arnold

OCEAN PINES – Joan Lawrence Arnold died Jan. 25, 2010 at her home, following the baptism of her great-grandson.

A graduate of Seton High School, she was married to the love of her life, Bob Arnold, for 56 years. She was the leader of the family, and an Irish mother, who always said, “family is important”. She is survived by three daughters, Debra Saling and husband Michael, Judith Whaley and husband Charles, and Patti Rensel and husband Joel. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Katie Pusey and husband John and Mary and Rory Rensel; and one great-grandson, Maxx Lawrence Pusey.

She was a faithful “Friend of Bill W’s”, and dedicated much of her time to those new to the program. She was instrumental in starting several meetings in the Ocean Pines area. Her faith guided her and she put others ahead of herself always. She was a lay reader at her church and formed the Episcopal Church Women’s Group, working on as many projects as she could.

 A service will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Berlin on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Charles W. Schoeplein

OCEAN CITY – Charles Wilfred Schoeplein, 77, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Wilfred and Mary Schoeplein of Rocky River, Ohio.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel after 22 years. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his Air Force career, he was a much-respected pilot, instructor and aeronautical engineer. After retiring from the Air Force, he enjoyed a second career of 14 years as a manufacturing representative for Schoeplein and Company, Inc. He enjoyed hunting and world travel.

He was the dear father and father-in-law of Mariann (Bernie) Lears of St. Louis, Mo., Denise (Paul) Taylor of North Granby, Conn. and Janette (Rick) Burley of Warrenton, Va.; loving grandfather of Kristen, Kimberly, Matthew and Kellie Lears, April and Charlie Taylor and Michael and David Burley; brother of James (Sheila) Schoeplein, Karen (Ronald-Deceased) Turgeon, Donald (Connie) Schoeplein and Kevin (Lisa) Schoeplein; and uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Ocean City. Friends may call on Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the church. Shirley A. Henderson

BERLIN — Shirley Anne Henderson died Jan. 22, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

She was the daughter of the late Francis McGowan and Celestine Gerlitz McGowan.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Warren A. Henderson. She is also survived by her three sons, Michael A. Henderson and his wife Debbie, Paul K. Henderson, and Mark E. Henderson, and two daughters, Patty E. Garman and her husband Ken and Susan E. Hartman and husband Craig. She is the adored grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Sherri A. Henderson, and three brothers, Robert McGowan, Jim McGowan and Jack McGowan.

She worked for Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Silver Spring for 27 years. She was a devout and loving parishioner. She enjoyed traveling cross country and camping, but most of all, being with her family, especially through the holidays. She was also involved with “meals on wheels”.
