Joyce Higbee

OCEAN CITY – Joyce Higbee,
age 70, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010
from Lung Cancer at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury she was
the daughter of the late Catherine Hudson.
Higbee was a longtime resident of Ocean City where she raised her children and
worked at the Cy’s City Lunch Restaurant.
She is survived by her children, Mike and Cheryl Nottingham of Ocean City,
George Nottingham, Henrietta and Michael Drury of Fruitland and William
"Bill" Higbee of Delmar; her grandchildren, Shaelan Nottingham, Kylie
Nottingham, Michael Drury, Breann Drury and Trevor Nottingham; two sisters,
Nancy R. Bowden and Betty J. Redden; an aunt, Christine Walston of Salisbury;
and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death
by two brothers, Gerald Wayne Hudson in 1967 and Dennard "Bus" Hudson
in 2001; a son, Keith Douglas Jarvis Nottingham in 1977; and an uncle, Cye
Jarvis and his wife Henrietta.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010
at 2 p.m
. at Sunset Memorial Park in Berlin. Rev. David Dingwall
will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO
Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage
Funeral Home in Berlin.
Thomas N. Exarhakis

BERLIN
– Thomas Nicholas Exarhakis, age 87, died on May 10, 2010.

Born in
Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Allenhurst N.J., he was the son of the late
Nicholas T. Exarhakis and Stella Colatos Exarhakis.

He is
survived by his wife of 62 years, Eve Karazikas Exarhakis.

Exarhakis
graduated from Georgetown University, and served in the Air Force during WWII.
He later became Vice President of Geico Insurance Company before retiring to
Ocean City.

He is
survived by a son, Nicholas T. Exarhakis and his wife Tracy of Annapolis, and
two daughters, Stephanie Exarhakis and her partner Jane Morris of Melverne,
N.Y. and Anne Trumpower and her husband BT of Ocean City.

He was
the adored grandfather of; Chris Trumpower and his wife Jeffra, Brad Trumpower
and his fiancée Melissa Freimark, David Wehrs, Eve Nicole Trumpower, Tommy
Exarhakis and Carolyn Exarhakis.

A
visitation will be held on Friday at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, from
6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. George
Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City. Rev. Andreas Markopoulos will officiate.

In lieu
of flowers, a donation may be made in Tom’s memory to The Veterans of WWII
Memorial: P.O. Box 1576, Ocean Pines Md. 21811 or St. George Greek Orthodox
Church, 8805 Coastal HWY, Ocean City, Md. 21842.

Irene
Lassiter Kinnish

BERLIN – Irene Kinnish, 81, passed away at
her home.

She was
born in New Bern, NC to the late Claude and Emma Taylor Lassiter. She was wife
to the late Benjamin Kinnish Sr.

She is
survived by her sons Benjamin Kinnish and his wife Mary Kay, and Steven Kinnish
and his wife Laura; and grandchildren Jessica Whewell, Robert Kinnish, Griffin
Kinnish and April Kinnish.

Services
were held.

Dona
Joy Byrd

BERLIN
– Dona Joy Byrd, age 76, died May 6, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in
South Shore Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Dunaway and
Connie Delotelle Dunaway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J.
Byrd Sr.

Byrd
was a bookkeeper for Grand Union Supermarkets in Prince George’s County until
retiring to raise her children in Friendly, Md. She was an avid reader and
enjoyed going to church.

She is
survived by her daughter, Carol Byrd Lewis and her husband William of Berlin
and a son, Harry Jackson Byrd, Jr. and his wife Diane Rees Byrd of LaPlata. She
was adored grandmother of Harry Jackson Byrd III, Alexandra Rees Byrd, William
Jackson Lewis and John Clay Lewis.

A
memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, at 4 p.m. at the Burbage
Funeral Home in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her
memory to the Humane Society of the US, Dept MEMIT9, 2100 L St. NW Washington
D.C., 20037.

Joseph
H. Beigler

BERLIN – Joseph H.
Beigler age 75, of Dagsboro, Del. passed away on May 8, 2010.

Beigler was preceded in
death by his parents, Carl Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Short Beigler.

He had been an auto
mechanic.  He is survived by his sister,
Lola E. Ness of Lehigh Acres, Fla. 

Services and burial will
be private.
