Memorial Day Bluefish Tourney a Hit

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Marlin Club’s second annual Memorial Day Bluefish Tournament was a hit last weekend with dozens of boats competing in the event dedicated to the men and women of the armed services.

In the spirit of the Memorial Day holiday, proceeds from the event were dedicated to the Catherine and Charles Kratz Memorial Park and Scholarship Fund. Catherine and Charles Kratz are long-time members of the Ocean City Marlin Club who recently started a foundation to provide support, encouragement and a better way of life for the men and women who served in the armed forces. Last week’s tournament raised $3,830 for the foundation.

For the record, two boats tied for first place with 13.4-pound bluefish. The “Reel Estate” and the “Big Herring” tied for first with the former earning $2,444 and the latter earning $3,724 in prize money. The “Dilligaf” was second with a 13-pounder worth $503, while the “Big Herring” took third with a 12.6-pounder worth $630.
