Sales Associates Join Firm

OCEAN CITY – Dottie Wells, manager of Long & Foster® Real Estate, Inc.’s Ocean City office, has announced the affiliation of Stephen and Suzanah Cain as sales associates.

“We are extremely pleased that Stephen and Suzanah have decided to return home to Long and Foster to continue their successful career in the industry,” said Wells.

The Cains, who originally began their career in real estate with Long and Foster, have consistently been top producers in both sales and listings.   

Common Stock Acquired

BERLIN — Reese F. Cropper, Jr., chairman of the Board of Calvin B. Taylor Bankshares, Inc., announced this week that its Board of Directors has authorized the corporation to acquire up to 300,050 shares of its common stock (10% of shares currently outstanding).

The company may acquire the shares from time to time in open market transactions, in block purchases or otherwise.

Top Producer Named

OCEAN CITY – Congratulations were extended this week to Bill “Mr. Bill” Nielander, an associate broker with Long and Foster Real Estate’s Ocean City Office, for having been named the top producer in sales volume for the month of August.

Director Named To Council

SNOW HILL — Worcester County Emergency Services Director Teresa Owens was recently appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley to serve on the Governor’s Emergency Management Advisory Council for a period of two years.

The Governor’s Emergency Management Advisory Council (GEMAC) was created in 1981 for the purpose of advising the Governor with regard to the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of emergency management matters. The council is comprised of local emergency management directors, representatives from various state agencies, non-government organizations and private industry partners.

Company Announces Addition

SALISBURY – Peninsula Home Care announced that Nancy Bagwell has joined the management team of Peninsula Home Care (PHC), a leading, award winning home care company founded in 1985.  

Bagwell comes to PHC from Bon Secours (meaning Good Help in French) in Richmond, Va. and Greenville, S.C.  

“Nancy brings tremendous experience and energy to Peninsula Home Care, and we look forward to her insights and leadership,” said Carol West, managing partner of CHMG, parent company of Peninsula Home Care. “Her focus will be on quality outcomes, patient satisfaction outcomes and the growth of the office, and we are excited to have her on board.”

Peninsula Home Care provides health care services, resources and “real world” therapy in the home.  The home health staff provides and coordinates a plan of care and/or therapy that a patient’s doctor orders to help maintain the patient’s physical, mental and social well-being.  Services include nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and access to medical social workers and home health aides. 

AGH Adds Family Doctor

BERLIN – Lorren Donmoyer, M.D., a family practitioner who cared for patients in Ocean Pines prior to relocating to Bloomsburg, Pa. in 2008, has returned to the area to provide care at Atlantic General Health System’s Townsend Medical Center in Ocean City.

Donmoyer is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at Portsmouth Family Medicine through the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Portsmouth, Va.

Donmoyer joins family medicine physician Stephen Waters, M.D., and internist Nhu Tran, M.D., in practice at the Townsend Medical Center to provide vital primary care services to the Ocean City and Bethany/Fenwick Island communities.

Office Adds Nurse Practitioner

BERLIN – Nicki Akstinas, CRNP, recently joined Christine Neto, M.D., at the Ocean Pines Primary Care and Women’s Health office to provide gynecology care to area women.

Akstinas completed her nurse practitioner studies through Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrence, Calif. in 2005, and she brings 35 years of GYN nursing experience to her patients. She is specialized in diabetes education, family planning and cervical colposcopy and biopsy.

Akstinas has her nurse practitioner certification through the National Certification Corporation. Fluent in Spanish, she also holds a certification from the state of California for bilingual medical terminology.
