Seahawks Fall to Parkside, 5-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity soccer team ran into a buzz saw on Monday, falling to unbeaten Parkside, 5-0, at home to fall to 4-3-1 on the season.

Parkside entered the game unbeaten, having outscored their opponents by a combined 42-2 during an seven-game winning streak to start the season. Decatur had been streaky thus far this season, on their way to a 4-2-1 record. The Rams got out of the gate fast against the Seahawks, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game to set the tone early.

Parkside scored two more goals in the first half to all but settle the issue and took a 4-0 lead into intermission. Decatur did not roll over and continued to press the issue in the second half, but the damage had been done and the Rams kept the Seahawks off the scoreboard. Parkside added its fifth and final goal about halfway through the second half and cruised to the 5-0 victory, extending its lead in the Bayside South standings in the process.
