Charlon Hall McElroy
SEAFORD, Del. — Charlon Hall McElroy passed away April 30, 2012 in Seaford, Del.

She was born Oct. 9, 1927 to Audrey and Parley Hall, who are both deceased. She was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband, Charles H. McElroy, Sr. and an infant son, David.

She is survived by her children, Charles and Sharon McElroy of Bridgeville, Del.; Craig & Suzan McElroy of Ocean City; Carla & Greg Johnson of Laurel, Del.; and Caroline and Jay Milligan of Seaford. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Faye McElroy of Seaford.

Mrs. McElroy has left an enduring legacy of seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Ashley and Greg Cooper and daughter, Kaleigh of Raleigh, NC; Kyle and Lauren Whaley and son, Carter of Cambridge; Jeremy McElroy, Newark, Del.:, Michael Brent, Cambridge; Matthew McElroy, Miami, Fla.; Kimberly Whaley and children, Kamden and Jaelyn of Seaford; and Chase Milligan, Seaford. She is also survived by five step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren, Ronnie and Missy Milligan and daughter, Natalie of Forest Hills, Md,; Lindsay and Scott Smith and daughters, Taylor, Reagan and Madison of Laurel, Del.; Nicole and Ritchie Condon and sons, Nathan, Trey and TJ of Laurel, Del. and Ryan Hawkins and Wyatt Elliott of Bridgeville, Del.

Mrs. McElroy graduated in 1945 from Bridgeville High School and attended nursing school before her marriage.  She retired from Nanticoke Hospital after 30 years of service as a floor secretary. She was a den mother to Cub Scout/Boy Scout Troop #182 when her boys were in the scouts. Mrs. McElroy was a life-long member of St. Johns UMC in Seaford. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and the Seaford Widows & Widowers Club.

“Mom Mac” will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held Friday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Seaford, Del. with the family receiving callers one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Cath. Lab or the American Cancer Society.

TOWSON — On April 23, 2012, Emily Carroll (nee Merritt), 88 years old, passed away in Towson.

Emily was a longtime resident of Ocean City. She was the beloved wife of the late Dennis Carroll, Sr.; devoted mother of Alice Kish, Betty Fuller, Dennis, John, Richard, Robert, Gregory and Jeff Carroll; and loving grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of five

A Memorial Service will be held at the St. John Neumann Church in Ocean Pines on Tuesday, May 15 at 11 a.m.

John Joseph Zaniewski

OCEAN PINES — John Joseph Zaniewski, age 69, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., he was the son of the late Jan Zaniewski and Mary Frances Rajnik Zaniewski.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Adele Marie Russell Zaniewski; two daughters, Jennifer Z. McIver and her husband Russ of Arlington, Va. and Julie Zaniewski and her partner Lauren of Towson; and a sister, Monica Britton of Martin, Tenn.

Mr. Zaniewski had worked as an Optical Engineer and Physical Science Technician at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines. He was a golfing enthusiast at the Interlinks Community in Ocean Pines. He was a United States Army Veteran.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Donald Ross Fisher

OCEAN CITY — Donald Ross Fisher, Sr., 81, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home. Born in Ocean City, he was the son of the late Everett J. Fisher and Carrie Phillips Fisher.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Calvina Wainwright Fisher; his children, Cindy Twilley and her husband Edward of Salisbury, Martha “Marty” Hall and her husband Bill of Fenwick Island, Del. and Donald R. Fisher, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Berlin; and eight grandchildren, Will Hall, IV, Cory Hall, Russell Hall, Carrie Hall, Stephanie Fisher, Hannah Fisher, Courtney Fisher and Donald Ross Fisher, III.

Mr. Fisher had worked in the family popcorn business in Ocean City since 1937. He was a 60-year member and past Fire Chief of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a past Master of Evergreen Masonic Lodge #153 AF& AM, Boumi Temple Shrine, and Scottish Rite. He was a member of Atlantic United Methodist Church and had served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bank of Ocean City from 1994-2005.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. George Godfrey will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin.
